A LEGACY OF
CRAFTMANSHIP
AND FAMILY
HONORING JACK'S SERVICE
On September 26, 2024, Jack, along with the other 2999 Dustoff Crew members were finally recognized for their service and sacrifices. The President of the United States awarded the Dustoff Crew's the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor. The first Congressional Gold Medal was awarded in 1776 to General George Washington. Since 1776, only 184 people have received this medal. The 3000 people in the Army Dustoff crews (Pilots, Crew Chiefs, and Medics) had a 1 in 3 chance of being killed or wounded each time they flew. The 3000 people collectively rescued 900,000 people from 1962-1973.
The metal is currently being created at the US Mint and Jack's grandsons will accept the award in his honor.

CONTINUING THE LEGACY
Jack’s love for family is what shaped every part of his life and his business. Today, his daughter Cookie and his brother Kerry are walking in his footsteps, carrying on the work he started with the same heart and dedication he was known for. Together, they are building something lasting - not only to honor Jack, but also to create a future that Cookie’s children, Jack’s grandchildren, will be proud to carry forward.
“My father was not only a war Hero - he was our personal Hero, and he truly was a “Jack of all trades.” It was an absolute honor to be his daughter and work with him for the last 15 years. I look forward to continuing to build upon the beautiful legacy he so graciously left behind.” -Cookie Tanney
JACK'S STORY
Jack Tanney, the founder of our company, was a man of ingenuity, adventure, heart, and let's be serious, he was an absolute engineering genius. Born in Oakland in 1946, he lived a remarkable life. After graduating from Clovis High, he went to Hawaii to extend his studies (and live the ultimate surfer dream). His time there was cut short as he joined the Army and served as a Medevac helicopter pilot in Vietnam, achieving the rank of Warrant Officer.
After the passing of his father, Jack (a self-taught engineer) stepped up to lead the family business, and with his brother Kerry, he grew it into a thriving manufacturing company. His drive and creativity resulted in thousands of packaging machines that continue to run in plants across the world, laying the foundation for the ideals we carry forward today.
Jack was an honest man, he was a man of his word, and he met each handshake with a type of integrity that is hard to find these days.
He treated his employees like family, his friends and customers like gold, and he knew no strangers. He included his children and later his grandsons in his life’s work, proudly sharing both his business and his passions with them. Known for his generosity, adventurous spirit, and zest for life, Jack left a legacy not only of innovation but of love and inspiration. His memory continues to guide our values and our work every day.
